I believe that Holzer wants art to abandon its traditional distance from life and make closer contact with a larger public (just as many artists of her generation), and that’s why she chose language to make approachable content, not just for artsy people. There is also something particularly endearing in wearing caps, shirts, or finding her work on the street, electric signs and so forth with her texts, because then that is Holzer’s main objective: making art accessible.
